BABIES ≠ LEVERAGE

Child care should never be collateral damage in federal budget fights.

Right now, at the federal level, child care funding is being tied to Homeland Security spending. That means care for infants and toddlers will become a bargaining chip in negotiations that have nothing to do with their safety and well-being.

Young children won’t follow the funding debate. But they will feel the consequences immediately:

  • A center that can’t keep its doors open

  • A parent who can’t get to work

  • A family forced into crisis overnight

Child care is not leverage. Protecting children is non-negotiable.

  • Congress must separate child care funding from Homeland Security.

Children and families in Ohio deserve stability.

Take Action: Call Your Senators

Tell your U.S. Senators: Protect Ohio families. De-link child care funding from Homeland Security.

Call script:
“Hi, my name is ____. I’m calling from ____. I’m urging Senator ____ to protect children and families by making sure child care funding is not tied to Homeland Security negotiations. Child care should never be used as leverage. Please support clean, stable child care funding.”

Sen. Jon Husted
