Building a Better Future for All

In May of 2024, hundreds of childcare providers across Ohio closed their doors to highlight the critical importance of childcare for families, communities, and the economy. We had over 300 people come out and advocate for a better Ohio. We shut our doors and stood in solidarity to draw attention to the national crises that our childcare systems are in. This powerful event highlighted the struggles faced by families and caregivers and energized the movement for affordable, high-quality early education. This momentum advanced four member leaders, who now serve on the Licensing Regulatory Board with the Department of Children and Youth, helping create a pathway for co-governance in licensing.

Why it matters

The current childcare system is woefully underfunded, placing an undue burden on the shoulders of Black and brown women. By taking action together, we can create meaningful change and ensure equitable access to affordable childcare, better pay, and improved working conditions for providers.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT!

Take Action

Because of our member leaders and relentless organizing, The CEO Project has accomplished several big wins for the care economy. Most recently, we helped secure a big win for childcare providers by passing House Bill 7 (HB 7), also known as the Strong Foundations Act. This new law brings exciting changes, like $3 million in annual funding for programs that support young children and families, including the Help Me Grow program. It also creates a pilot program to improve childcare in communities that need it most. HB 7 promises to strengthen child care in Ohio and open up more opportunities for children, families, and providers alike.

Our Vision!

We advocate for an Ohio where providers, parents, and teachers across the state call on our leaders to adequately support our children and their families' futures. We are united in our belief that every child has a right to access affordable, quality childcare and early education.
